Your end-of-financial-year tax pack

Cowry Team
July 22, 2026

At tax time, the hard part is remembering which transactions might matter. Cowry flags the ones that resemble deduction categories, groups them into an EOFY pack for the Australian financial year, and exports it for your accountant — without ever claiming anything is deductible.

Tax time in Australia is rarely hard because the maths is difficult. It's hard because you have to remember — scrolling a year of transactions trying to recall which ones might matter, months after you spent the money. Cowry's end-of-financial-year tax pack does the remembering for you, carefully and with clear guard-rails.

What it does — and what it deliberately doesn't

Cowry scans your year and flags transactions that resemble categories people commonly claim — work tools, professional subscriptions, home-office costs, that sort of thing. Every flag is worded to stay on the right side of the line:

  • "possible deduction" — not "deductible"
  • "worth checking" — not "claim this"

Cowry never asserts that anything is actually deductible. Whether a given expense counts is a question for you and your accountant, against your circumstances and the ATO's rules. Cowry's job is to surface candidates so nothing is forgotten — not to give tax advice.

Windowed to the Australian financial year

The pack is grouped to the Australian financial year — 1 July to 30 June — not the calendar year. So when you sit down after 30 June, the candidates are already scoped to the right window. No manual date-filtering, no accidentally pulling in last year or missing June.

Built for handing over

The flagged candidates gather into a single pack you can export "for your accountant." Instead of emailing a raw CSV and a shrug, you hand over an organised set of possible items, each tied to the real transaction behind it, ready for a professional to accept, reject, or ask about.

Where it lives

The tax pack is the Tax lens inside Activity. Your transactions are already there and already categorised — the Tax lens just re-reads them through a deduction-shaped filter. If a flag looks wrong, you can recategorise the transaction like any other, and the pack updates. Accurate categories make a cleaner pack, which is one more reason keeping Activity tidy pays off.

Try it

  1. Make sure your year's transactions are in Cowry (connect a bank or upload statements).
  2. Open Activity and switch to the Tax lens.
  3. Review the flagged possible deductions for the current financial year — drill into any transaction to check it.
  4. Export the pack and send it to your accountant to make the real call.

A quick note

This article is educational. Cowry is not a licensed financial adviser or a registered tax agent, and nothing here is financial, tax, investment, or legal advice. "Possible deduction" means worth checking, not deductible — always confirm with a qualified tax professional before you claim anything.
